Callaly Tampliners

Image
Hey Guys, I was recently approached by a company called Callaly, they do a product called a tampliner and they kindly sent me a box to try. For those of you that don't know what this is, it's basically a tampon with mini liner wings. The tampliners have a virtual applicator and they're ultra thin and breathable, they're 100% organic cotton and shred-free. The application is very easy, just like a regular tampon, it does take a bit of practice to get the mini liner to sit in the right position, but once you've mastered it they're extremely comfortable to wear. The tampliner should be changed every 4-6 hours or more regularly if your flow is heavier. I've comfortably left the tampliner in for a period of 8 hours whilst i was asleep and there was no issues- I'm actually impressed by the product. The removal is great too, it's been designed so that the tampon will pass back through the transparent membrane, leaving it neatly wrapped and ready t

My definition of self-acceptance

Image
Hey Guys,   So lately I've been reading up on all sorts of body positive blogs and posts. You know, the blogs that are encouraging you to love yourself and accept yourself as you are right now. I do have alot of self love and i fully accept myself for who i am, but this hasn't been a smooth ride.   At first this was all too far from reality for me and i found the transformation difficult, as it doesn't just happen over night. I used to think to myself  “why can’t i love my body. I can’t stand living in it. I don’t feel good in my body. Why and how can I accept something that makes me so miserable?”   Then i started to realise after doing some research that often people confuse self-acceptance with stagnation. Staying miserable, learning to put up with something you hate. Many people wrongly assume that they’ll never change if they accept themselves (not to mention love themselves!!!) as they are right now. But it turns out that isn’t true.   So I've

Believe in yourself

Image
Hey,   So today's post is about self belief and why i believe it's so important to ones life. There was a long time when the lack of belief in myself was a major factor in my life. I didn’t pursue an ideal career, or study hard to gain the qualifications for the things I wanted to achieve - all because I didn’t think I could. I didn’t stick to good habits, because I didn’t really believe I had the discipline. I was shy with people, I had a hard time making new friends, I didn’t assert myself in the workplace. I didn’t push past my comfort zone. All because I didn’t really believe I could. While I’m not free of self-doubt these days, I can honestly say I believe in myself like never before. That doesn’t mean I think I’ll never fail or quit: I will. Probably often.  And that’s OK. The trick is, I learned it’s completely fine to try and fail, to put yourself out there and to not be perfect...to say hello to someone and have them not instantly love you, to c

Laura Loves Lovedrobe

Image
Hey guys!    I realise i have been a bit slack with the posts of late!   I actually hadn’t realised how long it had actually been until I logged in to do this post, so i do apologise. Anyway, since I was last here, the clocks have changed and so has the weather, and trying to get decent blog pics is an absolute nightmare for all bloggers at this time of year! But I grabbed an opportunity finally, and I bring you these two beautiful dresses that were very kindly gifted to me, by the wonderful Lovedrobe.   When I was asked if I wanted to be given the chance to be gifted some items from them I was like "Hell yes". Lovedrobe are fast becoming one of my favourite brands to go to for plus size clothing and they always have something I want to add to my wardrobe.   So let's talk about the first dress, the Lovedrive GB knot front mustard stripe dress. I am wearing a size 22, it fits really well, it's a loose fitting dress. It's made from a Non-stretch

The struggles of a plus sized woman

Image
Hello, I wanted to write a little article about what it is like being plus sized and the struggles we face from day-to-day. So, being a plus size girl from my late teens, I know and understand firsthand the struggles and the hate that comes with it. I used to question the reasons why it is so bad for somebody to carry more body weight than others? Today’s beauty standards are ridiculous, portraying a biased view of what society should deem as the acceptable female body shape - I have touched on this matter in previous posts, and explored how important it is that we challenge this idea of what is seen as right and/or wrong with regards to women’s bodys and the need to promote self-love! Why do we grow up thinking that we have to be a certain size or weight? I see plus size people being shamed everyday online for the way they look. It’s wrong. Every size is beautiful. No one can tell you what your body should look like. You are the only person that can direct your life and

NO7 Hot Cloth Cleanser

So many of you have recommended to me saying that No7 do an amazing Hot cloth cleanser. I'm sure it goes without saying that when it comes to trying out new makeup or skincare us beauty bloggers tend to go on one anothers recomnedations, so I found myself in the No7 isle at Boots the next day and bought the Hot Cloth Cleanser. When it comes to skincare and washing my face I am a huge fan of hot cloth cleansers (Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, I'm looking at you!). When it comes to cleanising, using a hot cloth cleanser is definitly a favourite way for me to get my skin all clean and looking beautiful again, but I had no idea that No7 had their own hot cloth cleanser - So I just had to pick one up. I've been using the No7 Hot Cloth Cleanser for just over a 3 weeks now and I thought it deserved a spot on my blog as I've been enjoying using it and its been leaving my skin looking radiant - which is something that I think all of us want and need. This cleanser from No7 is r

EFF YOUR BEAUTY STANDARDS

Image
Hey Guys, With Tess Holliday (also known as Tess Munster), being on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine this week, I feel like there no better topic to discuss right now than that of beauty standards. If you haven’t read this article in October 2018’s issue of Cosmopolitan, then I urge you to grab yourself a copy – it’s well worth a read! Spread the message to your friends, and discover that the secret to surviving in a tough world is by being even tougher yourself. What really concerns me about the world we live in, is the back lash that Tess has received as a result of this cover shoot. She has been accused by the media of promoting obesity, which on reading the article, is the complete opposite of what she attempting to promote. Her message is not ‘let’s all be fat’, which is what Piers Morgan claims she trying to promote, her message is ‘let’s love yourself, regardless of how you look in your current body’. Piers Morgan is renowned for his judgmental opinions, and I know he

Circle Of Trust

Image
Hey Peeps So lately I have been spending quite a lot of time thinking about friendship, you know the true friendships we have women to women. The friendships that we have that tight circle of trust in, the ones that see us exactly for what we are- our true selves, our vulnerable sides etc. Our true friends see us at our worst, they see us when we are broken and lying on the ground, they know when to set us straight, they will give us some very hard truths, they deliver those truths knowing that it may hurt us, but it’s done with intentions of kindness, reality and filled with love. These friends also see us when we are our best, when we are full of happiness, they know us well and they know and understand what brings us happiness the most. There have been times where my friends have proven to know me better than I know myself.   Sometimes our circle of trust can change/alter, sometimes it can grow, other times it shrinks- unfortunately that’s just how life works.   I

Lets talk about PCOS

Image
Hey Guys, So this topic is something that I feel very strongly about and I also think that it is one of the most understood conditions out there. For those of you that don't know what PCOS is, it stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and it is a very common health condition that affects how women's ovaries work. Doctors Estimate that 1 in 10 women have it and more than 50% of the women are unaware that they do have it. Common symptoms include: -Irregular periods & Infertility ( making it difficult for women to ovulate and conceive), -Excessive Levels of Male hormones in your body (Androgen)- which can cause excess hair on your face or body- most commonly on your face though -Weight gain, -Hair thinning, -Oily skin or acne -The ovaries themselves  ( your ovaries can become enlarged and contain lots of fluid-filled sacs follicles which surround your eggs.) There is no exact cause of PCOS, it is known to run in families. Many women with PCOS later in life go on

Being Body Positive

Image
Being a plus size woman can be really frustrating when it comes to buying fashionable clothes, and I can’t help but feel that the fashion industry slightly ignores the larger lady. I personally know how it feels to have a strong love for fashion and beauty, but often struggle to achieve the style or look you were hoping for, due to lack of options for purchasing. I have been told in the past that fashion isn't for me, and that I should find clothes that, "comfortably fit me" or, "flatter your curves"- when someone says these things to me all I am thinking is that they are saying camouflage your body's flaws... Uhhh NO!. For this very reason I am so glad I have stumbled across the world of Plus size bloggers. I have seen that women who are also plus size can make a bold statement with their fashion choices, and also have their own individual style. Following these plus size bloggers has many advantages, as they constantly recommend the best places to
